Morocco Invests $530 Million to Revitalize Historic Ksours and Kasbahs

Approximately 5.3 billion dirhams have just been released to enhance the ksours and kasbahs of southeastern Morocco as part of the integrated strategy for the sustainable enhancement of these spaces by 2026.
This is what the Minister of National Territorial Planning, Urbanism, Housing and City Policy, Nouzha Bouchareb, made public when presenting this strategy. Thus, this operation will create "530,000 working days" and "790 income-generating activities (IGAs) also intended to consolidate skills with an overall investment of 180 million dirhams in addition to the creation of 4,000 direct jobs".
In addition to the legal and institutional aspects, this strategy will promote the integration of Ksour and Kasbah into the priorities of slum eradication and spatial disparities programs, in order to make these spaces more livable, while supporting the creation of IGAs in tourism, agriculture, crafts and others. In this sense, the minister invited to "an incentive tax framework to encourage investment in these areas as well as a communication plan to enhance these spaces as an ecotourism and cultural product".
