Morocco Investigates Surgical Mask Shortage Amid Coronavirus Concerns

Faced with the speculation on surgical masks in the kingdom, the president of the Regional Council of Pharmacy Owners of the South has filed a complaint to denounce the abuses.
According to the complaint, the president of the Regional Council of Pharmacy Owners denounces "the disappearance of surgical masks and sterilization products from the sales circuit in pharmacies". She claims that this situation affects not only the private medical sector, which depends on private distribution networks, but also constitutes a threat to the health of citizens.
She points out that Morocco has been facing this unsavory situation since the confirmation of the two coronavirus cases. But the president of the Council explains that the traffic in masks and speculation undermine the program to combat the proliferation of the coronavirus and the efforts made to prevent seasonal flu. Faced with this persistent situation, she calls for the responsibility of the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, Al Massae reports that the Confederation of Pharmacists’ Unions of Morocco shares the same view as the president of the regional council of pharmacy owners. Like her, the Confederation denounces the inaction of the Ministry of Health which, according to it, still refuses to organize the sector of the sale of medical devices.
