Morocco Investigates First Suspected Monkeypox Cases as Global Outbreak Spreads

Health authorities confirmed on Monday that three suspected cases of monkeypox have been identified and are currently under investigation in Morocco.
The national coordinator of public health emergency operations at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mouad Merabet, announced the discovery of three suspected cases of monkeypox on national territory, thanks to the response and surveillance plan established by the kingdom.
The biological analyzes of these three people are ongoing, and the results are awaited to draw any conclusions. For now, Morocco has not recorded any confirmed cases.
In a context of expansion of this infectious disease in the world, the kingdom has bet on anticipation. For several days, the country has been on alert with the implementation of a strengthened surveillance system. The government is also considering procuring the recommended drugs, to anticipate a global shortage.
