Morocco Seeks Antiviral Drug Tecovirimat to Combat Potential Monkeypox Outbreak

Morocco is considering procuring Tecovirimat, an antiviral therapy administered in case of severe cases due to monkeypox.
Since the appearance of many cases in Europe and America, Morocco is seeking to anticipate any epidemic. In this sense, the health authorities want to activate the procurement process for the recommended treatment.
Thus, a series of consultations is currently underway to obtain sufficient quantities of an antiviral agent known as Tecovirimat. This treatment is the only one recommended by the European Medical Association (EMA), but it is not yet widely available.
This initiative by Morocco comes in a global context where many countries are rushing to obtain drugs to manage the situation locally, especially since experts expect more cases of infection to be recorded with the advent of summer.
