Morocco Investigates Death of Woman Following Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccination

Following the death on Monday of a 33-year-old woman, shortly after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine Janssen produced by the Johnson & Johnson laboratory, the Ministry of Health announced that it had launched an investigation. The aim is to determine whether the vaccine is responsible for the woman’s death or whether it is an unfortunate coincidence.
Last weekend, Morocco received doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and immediately launched a vaccination operation that targeted around 5,000 people, mainly tourism employees in Casablanca, Marrakech and Agadir, the ministry notes in a statement on Tuesday.
The ministry states that it immediately launched an investigation after learning of the death of a young woman (33 years old) at the Bab Ighli cultural center in Marrakech, after receiving a dose of the vaccine on Monday, and the fainting of one of her colleagues. It specifies that a commission has been dispatched to Marrakech to clarify the circumstances of this incident.
While specifying that the pharmacovigilance system has been monitoring any side effects or incidents coinciding with this vaccination operation since the launch of the national vaccination campaign, the ministry assures that it will publish the results of the investigation so that everyone is at the same level of information regarding this incident.
