Morocco Introduces Telework Option for Civil Servants, Covering Equipment Costs

The Minister of Economy, Mohamed Benchaâboun, announced the possibility now offered to civil servants to work remotely.
According to a preliminary note, the administration plans to cover the costs of equipment, software and communication related to the work. However, the civil servant concerned will only be entitled to a one-year renewal of said authorization, provided that he makes a written request 60 days before the expiration of the previous authorization.
According to the daily Al Massae, the management also covers the costs of maintenance and technical assistance, except in the event of deterioration of the equipment by the civil servant. Similarly, civil servants who opt for telework will benefit from the same rights as their colleagues who continue to perform their duties in person. This includes allowances related to temporary incapacity for work, occupational accidents and occupational diseases. Also, teleworkers will be subject to the same duties provided for by the legislative and organizational provisions in force.
Note that telework is now considered a factor in the modernization of the administration, since it allows the reconciliation of the needs of the civil service and the personal needs of the civil servant.
