Morocco Introduces New Digital Driving License System in 2020

Starting this year, a new driving license formula will come into effect. This is the result of the instructions just given by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) to the competent structures.
The DGSN directives have been addressed to the security officials, police prefects, as well as the heads of road traffic services, reports the daily Al Massae. They are asked to allow drivers still in possession of the old licenses to circulate without fear, provided they hurry to acquire the new ones.
Meanwhile, holders of the new licenses must "have documents subject to the new criteria, in accordance with the provisions of the electronic card containing all the information relating both to the driver and to the tickets previously sent to him".
Furthermore, notes the same source, another project concerning these new provisions is being developed by Bank Al-Maghrib, in collaboration with the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water. It is a question of developing a new generation of driving licenses, as well as new gray cards, during the current year.
The implementation of this project aimed at renewing the documents, namely, driving licenses, gray cards, as well as national identity cards, is part of the process of ensuring a high level of security for these official documents, through the introduction of new technologies.
