Morocco Introduces Advanced Breathalyzers to Combat Drunk Driving

This should reduce the number of traffic offenses, or increase the number of fines. The DGSN will soon start using breathalyzers that can measure blood alcohol content at a fairly good distance (a few centimeters) from the driver’s mouth.
According to Les Ecos, which reports the information: "The DGSN will implement new measures and new devices to detect driving under the influence of alcohol. Sophisticated new equipment will be used by the police in all regions of Morocco. This disposable, portable breathalyzer in dedicated briefcases will be able to measure the amount of alcohol in the air a few centimeters from the driver’s mouth".
These are therefore electronic breathalyzers that have just been acquired by the DGSN. Note that those that require "blowing into the balloon" are chemical breathalyzers.
These new "breathalyzers" record and print the data instantly, according to the same source, which also indicates that training will be given to traffic police officers to learn how to use them.
Les Ecos concludes its article by: "Following the national road safety strategy, alcohol checks will be intensified. A strengthening of the procedures and sanctions punishing driving under the influence of alcohol is also planned".
Let’s recall that at the end of February, Morocco was equipped with 280 radars that detect and record speeding before the vehicle even passes, at a distance of more than 50 meters. They were handed over to the Gendarmerie and the police by the Ministry of Transport.
