Morocco to Introduce New Quadrivalent Flu Vaccine for Broader Protection

A new vaccine against seasonal flu will soon be available on the Moroccan market. This vaccine, which attacks four strains of the virus, will provide broader protection and therefore better efficacy.
"The flu vaccine for this season will soon be available in pharmacies in Morocco," explains a source from Sanofi Maroc-Tunisie-Libye to Médias24. It is quadrivalent, meaning that it will attack four strains of the virus, due to the mutation that the flu virus undergoes each year.
While we know that last year in Morocco, 300,000 doses of the vaccine were distributed on the private market against 250,000 on the public market, will the Moroccan subsidiary of the pharmaceutical company be able to meet the demand coming primarily from people with chronic diseases; pregnant women; children aged 6 months to 5 years; the elderly and, in addition, in the event of a surplus?
"As every flu season, Sanofi Pasteur supplies its various markets (public and private) based on forecasts and the quantities previously defined. In the event of exceptional demand related to the current context, the group will deploy the necessary efforts, in close collaboration with the health authorities, to respond to public health emergencies," responds the Moroccan subsidiary of the pharmaceutical company, which specifies that "vaccination against seasonal flu is valid from late September to February".
The vaccine will be sold in Moroccan pharmacies for 125.30 DH.
