Morocco’s Interior Minister Reports Crime Rates ’Under Control’ Despite 758,000 Cases in 8 Months

There is no need to worry about crime in Morocco. The security situation in the country is "normal and under control", thanks to the efforts made by the authorities, says the Minister of the Interior.
Questioned in parliament on the subject, the minister presented a review of his achievements. It emerges that the security situation is far from alarming, given the daily monitoring of the strategy to fight crime.
According to the figures, 758,254 cases related to crimes and offenses were recorded during the first 8 months of the current year. These are mainly crimes against property and persons, accounting for 39% of the total cases recorded nationwide. 78% of these cases are concentrated more in cities, while the rest relate to the rural world.
During this period, the security services proceeded to arrest and prosecute approximately 692,194 people, including 3% minors. The rate of cases that have been resolved has also reached 90%. Meanwhile, more than 219,025 cases of offenses and crimes affecting the security of citizens have been recorded, or about 29% of the total cases.
In conclusion, the ministry assured that in the face of the "dramatization" of certain crimes, its services will be focused on the fight against all criminal practices that haunt public opinion and undermine the feeling of security among them, in particular the carrying of bladed weapons, the trafficking of hallucinogenic substances and drugs, but also crimes committed near school establishments.
