Morocco Launches New Anti-Gang Units to Combat Evolving Crime Threats

To deal with new forms of crime, the General Directorate of National Security has created Anti-Gang Brigades (BAG) in Safi, Dakhla and Temara. A second similar unit has been created in Casablanca.
This is a response that comes in support of the rest of the national security services in charge of crime prevention and control, to face the multiple challenges related to the emergence of new crime techniques, indicates a statement from the DGSN.
These brigades are equipped with all the necessary human and logistical resources, such as specialized units in the fight against criminal networks. Their areas of intervention include, among other things, the fight against criminal networks and drug and psychotropic substance trafficking, as well as the pursuit and arrest of wanted persons. These brigades are also responsible for conducting criminal investigations and investigating very complex crimes.
The creation of these specialized teams is part of the efforts of the national security services to strengthen the mechanisms to fight crime and strengthen the sense of security of citizens, the statement said.
