Morocco Intensifies Efforts to Attract Skilled Diaspora for Key Sectors

Aware of the importance of its diaspora, Morocco is stepping up its efforts to attract Moroccan skills residing abroad.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has emphasized in a report the crucial challenge that this mobilization represents, particularly in key sectors such as higher education, industry and health, which are struggling to recruit.
To this end, the kingdom has developed a long-term strategy, relying on various levers. Forums, organized in Morocco and in the countries of residence, have made it possible to establish partnerships with Moroccan institutions and to integrate these skills into the country’s development projects. Thanks to these meetings, a database listing more than 5,000 profiles has been established.
Morocco does not intend to stop there. A new mechanism, responding to the directives of King Mohammed VI, will soon be put in place to support Moroccans abroad with projects. This mechanism will make it possible to identify the sought-after profiles, improve communication and promote collaborations.
This initiative is part of the continuity of the actions already undertaken by Morocco. A national strategy towards Moroccans residing abroad was adopted in 2014, supplemented by a national program for the mobilization of skills in 2021. Networks, both geographical and thematic, have also been created, bringing together professionals from various sectors (lawyers, doctors, aerospace experts, etc.), particularly in North America, Europe and Singapore.
