Morocco’s Industry Sector Recovers 40% of Jobs Lost to Pandemic, Minister Reports

Morocco is gradually recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, while the Industry sector alone has recovered 40% of the jobs lost during the health crisis, said the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.
The Moroccan economy is finally "relaunched", declared the minister in the program "L’info en face", specifying that "the 600,000 to 700,000 jobs lost for the national economy" have been "recovered by more than two-thirds in less than a year". This, thanks to "810 projects filed by industrialists of which 731 have been selected for an investment of more than 35 billion dirhams".
Regarding private investment, Mezzour highlighted the ratio of real estate and industry. "A decade ago, we were at 30% real estate and 15% industry. This ratio has now reversed. We are at 30% industry and 15% real estate," he rejoiced.
As for the reopening of borders, the minister declared "either we open and put other inputs in the catalyst that could accelerate things" at the risk of losing control, "or we find ourselves in a crisis situation as we were before and we add restrictions".
