Morocco-India Defense Pact Reshapes Global Security Landscape

On the sidelines of the official visit of Rajnath Singh, the Indian Minister of Defense, to Rabat, Morocco and India have sealed a strategic defense partnership.

Deferring to the high royal instructions, the Moroccan Minister of National Defense, Abdeltif Loudyi, received his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh at his office on Monday. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation on a working visit to the kingdom. On this occasion, Morocco and India signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of defense, in the presence of Army Corps General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, and Army Corps General Mohamed Haramou, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie.

This strategic defense partnership covers cooperation in the fields of training, exercises, cybersecurity and cyberdefense, the defense industry, military health, as well as the exchange of experience and expertise in various areas of common interest, but also the creation of a joint monitoring and coordination mechanism for the cooperation activities agreed upon by mutual agreement. Other topics on the agenda of the meeting: the importance of forging strategic partnerships between Morocco and India within the framework of South-South cooperation beneficial for the development of the two countries and African countries.

After the meeting with Minister Loudiyi, the Indian guest was received by Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade. This visit aims not only to consolidate the strategic partnership between India and Morocco, but also underscores the importance that the two countries attach to strengthening cooperation in the areas of defense, industry and trade.
