Morocco Imposes Anti-Dumping Duty on Turkish Electric Oven Imports

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has published the preliminary results of the anti-dumping investigation on imports of Turkish electric ovens and has concluded that there is indeed dumping practiced by the producer-exporters of these products on the Moroccan market. Consequently, it imposes an anti-dumping duty.
Following a request filed by the companies Deha Electromenager and Sultangaz, which represent 100% of national production, the Ministry of Industry and Trade opened an anti-dumping investigation in August 2023 on imports of electric ovens, the preliminary results of which, published on Wednesday, concluded the existence of dumping practiced by the producer-exporters of these products on the Moroccan market. The dumping margins, calculated and expressed as a percentage of the export price, are around 34.05% for the producer-exporter of the ITIMAT brand and 71.43% for the producer-exporters of other Turkish electric oven brands.
To counter this dumping, the ministry imposes a provisional anti-dumping duty of 34.05% on the producer-exporter of the ITIMAT brand. It also imposes a provisional anti-dumping duty of 62.07% for the producer-exporters of other Turkish electric oven brands against the 71.43% dumping "due to the high level of this margin and the concern to limit the impact of this measure on the consumer," it explains.
From January 2019 to June 2023, the volume of imports of electric ovens originating from Turkey has experienced a "notable" increase both in absolute terms and in relation to national production and consumption, the anti-dumping investigation reveals. This increase has had a major impact on the prices of electric ovens produced locally. It has also led to the deterioration of the economic and financial indicators of the national production branch over the period considered.
The report on the preliminary determination of the existence of dumping will be communicated to the various interested parties, Le360 reports. They have 15 days from the date of notification of the report to submit comments and additional information, the ministry said.
