Morocco Imposes Anti-Dumping Duties on Carpet Imports from China, Egypt, and Jordan

Since this Friday, April 1st, Morocco has applied an anti-dumping duty on imports of carpets and other mechanically manufactured floor coverings, originating from China, Egypt or Jordan.
This provision follows a joint order of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and that of Industry and Trade, published in the latest issue of the Official Bulletin, indicates a note from the Customs Administration.
More specifically, it is a provisional anti-dumping duty for a period of 6 months, with a rate of taxation ranging from 9% (imports from Jordan) to 144% (carpets originating from China), specifies the same source, explaining that in December 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Trade had opened an anti-dumping investigation on imports of carpets and other textile floor coverings, mechanically manufactured, originating from these three countries.
This investigation was carried out following a request from the Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing Industries (AMITH), which submitted elements deemed "objective and sufficient" to justify the anti-dumping investigation.
