Morocco Implements New COVID-19 Safety Protocol for Workplaces

Outbreaks of contamination in the workplace are calling into question the deconfinement scenarios in Morocco. For the management of the risk of contamination by covid-19, a new health protocol has been imposed in the workplace, on Thursday, May 28.

According to the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Green and Digital Economy and the Ministry of Labor and Professional Integration, the protocol, which is part of the resumption of economic activities, aims to provide guidelines to support companies in implementing the precautionary measures emanating from the competent authorities to fight against the spread of covid-19 in the workplace. It also aims to protect the health of employees and ensure the continuity of activities and employment.

Regarding the guidelines recommended in this protocol, they concern the various occupational health and safety measures. These are mainly measures relating to work planning and organization, workplace hygiene, catering, transportation, access to professional premises, and the care of symptomatic persons. As for the sectoral guides, they will be published, taking into account the specificities of each economic activity.

Furthermore, the two ministries have invited all employers and employees to strictly comply with the measures and instructions provided in the protocol to fight against the spread of the coronavirus and its repercussions.

For the record, the labor inspectorate and the joint commissions, composed of the relevant ministerial departments, are available to employers and employees in favor of an optimal implementation of the protocol.
