Morocco Hires Ex-Spain Coach Jorge Vilda to Lead Women’s National Team

Jorge Vilda is the new coach of the Moroccan women’s football team. The Spaniard has signed for four years with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and will be presented to the public this Sunday. But how much will the former coach of the Spanish women’s team earn?
Announced as sports director, Vilda is the new coach of the Atlas Lionesses. "The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has hired the services of the Spanish coach Jorge Vilda Rodríguez to coach the senior women’s national team "A", replacing Mr. Reynald Pedros," the Moroccan Federation announced in a note published Thursday on its website, hailing the work done by Pedros which allowed the Moroccan team to reach the round of 16 in its first World Cup participation last August.
The contract of the Madrid coach with the FRMF will end in 2027, i.e. after the next women’s World Cup. Vilda will be presented this Sunday, but no information has leaked on his salary, reports La Razón, estimating at nearly 200,000 euros per year the salary of the new coach, considering the salary of his predecessor Reynald Pedros, revealed during the last World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Vilda could also be entitled to bonuses depending on the achievements obtained.
This salary is much higher than what he was earning with the Spanish Federation, estimated at 170,000 euros, but much lower than what he would have earned after winning the women’s World Cup with Spain. His salary would have been multiplied by 3, i.e. nearly half a million euros per year, as Luis Rubiales had announced. "You deserve it Jorge, we’ve been through a lot. You are the best women’s football coach," the now former president of the RFEF had said.
