Morocco's Highway Authority Launches Plan to Halve Road Fatalities by 2021

The issue of road safety is a concern for Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM). It is also among the priorities of the company’s strategic plan. Its CEO, Anouar Benazzouz, provides some details.

The objective is to act on driving behavior, through the empowerment of the user, given that safety is "our shared responsibility," says the CEO.

To achieve this objective, ADM has launched an ambitious plan, "AGIR: Global Action against Road Insecurity," which aims to sustainably reduce the number of accidents on the motorway network and to reduce the number of fatalities by 50% by 2021 and 75% by 2025. This will be done through a roadmap adapted to the specificities of the motorway network. This is based on a comprehensive approach covering several sectors, according to Leseco.ma.

In terms of road safety, a convention was signed in April 2018 between ADM and the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC). The objective is to improve the response time of the Civil Protection teams on the national motorway network by having a station every 100 km on average. A second partnership agreement was signed by the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, ADM and the Royal Gendarmerie, for the security of crossing structures.

ADM has undertaken several projects to strengthen motorway safety across the entire 1,800 km network. The "ADM Trafic" app launched allows users to be informed in real time of the traffic situation on the entire motorway network.
