Morocco Held to Goalless Draw by Zambia in U17 AFCON Match

A goalless draw that leaves a taste of unfinished business. On Thursday evening, on the pitch of the Al Bachir stadium in Mohammedia, the Moroccan national under-17 team could only manage a draw (0-0) against a solid Zambian team.
This match, counting for the second day of the group stage of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, saw the two teams neutralize each other, but the young Moroccans remain in the lead of their group.
The match turned in the last quarter of an hour. While the two teams were exchanging blow for blow without finding the breakthrough, fate somewhat persecuted the Atlas Cubs. In the 75th minute, Moroccan player Houssam Bouhaddi had to leave his teammates prematurely, expelled, after confirmation of a dangerous foul by VAR. Reduced to ten, the young Moroccans had to tighten their ranks and dig into their resources to hold the result in the final minutes, under opposing pressure.
Despite this sharing of points, not everything is black, far from it. With this result, Morocco remains firmly in first place in the group. With 4 points, like their opponents of the evening, the Atlas Cubs are ahead of Zambia thanks to a better goal difference. An advantage that could prove crucial for the rest of the competition.
This draw brings the Moroccan selection a little closer to qualification for the quarter-finals of this U17 AFCON. The players now have their destiny in their own hands. The next appointment is already crucial: a confrontation against Tanzania. The objective will be clear: to obtain a positive result to definitively validate the ticket for the next round and, above all, to continue to dream of a qualification for the U17 World Cup, the other major challenge of this continental tournament.
