Morocco to Gradually Reopen Construction Sites After Eid Al Fitr, Enforcing COVID-19 Safety Measures

Construction sites will gradually resume in Morocco. The issue was on the agenda of a meeting between the Minister of National Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, and the Al Omrane Group. The restart is subject to compliance with preventive health measures against the covid-19 pandemic.
In a press release dated last Sunday, the Minister of National Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, Nouzha Bouchareb, indicated that construction sites will be able to resume after Eid Al Fitr. The decision was made during a meeting held in the presence of the Secretary General and the Chairman and members of the Al Omrane Group’s Executive Board.
The same press release specifies that it is a gradual and secure restart. It must be done in compliance with health and safety measures on construction sites, in accordance with the recommendations provided for in the guide developed by the ministry, in agreement with the stakeholders in the Construction and Housing ecosystem. The management of the risk of spreading covid-19 in the workplace in the sector is the objective, the ministry stressed.
Preserving the safety and health of workers and professionals is a high priority. To this end, public and private operators are required to comply with the health and safety rules taken by the Ministries of Health and Labor, the same press release noted.
