Mohammed VI Fund Invests 3.13 Billion Dirhams in Morocco’s Health Sector Amid Pandemic

The Mohammed VI Fund has mobilized more than 3.13 billion dirhams for the health sector, according to the presentation note of the draft finance law (PLF-2021).
This contribution from the Fund has been used to cover expenses related to the purchase of medical and hospital equipment, the purchase of medicines and pharmaceutical products, and the improvement of intervention resources.
Thanks to the 10 billion dirhams allocated by the General Budget, the Covid-19 fund or the "Mohammed VI Fund for Investment", it has also ensured the coverage and subsidization of the prices of non-woven masks for non-medical use produced locally.
As part of this PLF, the government wants to consolidate and strengthen the national health system, through the extension and upgrading of the hospital care offer and the facilitation of citizens’ access to health care in an equitable manner.
It also undertakes to mobilize additional human and financial resources through the use of innovative financing mechanisms and the diversification of its sources, the improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of health expenditure and the improvement of the governance of the health system.
