Morocco’s Fuel Prices Drop Slightly, Lagging Behind Global Oil Market Decline

In Morocco, the decrease in fuel prices is modest despite the clear easing of oil prices on the international market.
Fuel prices are starting to decrease slightly. On Friday, a liter of diesel was priced at 10.45 dirhams at Afriquia and Vivo Energy (Shell) service stations in downtown Casablanca, while the price of gasoline is set at 12.53 dirhams, as Le360 was able to observe. The trend is downward, but very limited.
A decrease limited to only 10 cents per liter, confides a source at the National Federation of Owners, Merchants and Managers of Service Stations in Morocco (FNPCGS). It should be noted that due to transportation costs, the price displayed in other cities of the kingdom is generally higher than these reference prices, with variations depending on distance and operators.
A new "modest" decrease in pump prices is thus recorded while we observe a clear easing of oil prices on the international market. Since the beginning of the year, the price of a barrel has lost 14% of its value, a decrease of 47% compared to its value during the last peak in May 2022.
