Morocco Fresh Produce Spain Market Leader Value

Spanish purchases of fresh fruits and vegetables from Morocco reached 710 million euros between January and April 2026, up 5.6% year-on-year. The Kingdom remains by far the leading supplier to Spain by value.

Morocco far outpaces Peru, whose sales reached 183 million euros, Costa Rica with 113 million and Brazil with 87 million. On its own, it has even generated more revenue than all European Union countries combined, whose exports to Spain represented 577 million euros.

By volume, the ranking is different. France remains the leading supplier to the Spanish market with 494,547 tonnes, compared to 232,993 tonnes for Morocco. But despite quantities more than twice lower, Moroccan products occupy first place when measuring spending by Spanish importers.

Fewer Tonnes, Much More Value

The ratio between the 710 million euros spent and the volumes imported corresponds to an average value of approximately 3,050 euros per Moroccan tonne. This average does not constitute a uniform price, as it depends heavily on the fruits and vegetables concerned, their season and commercial value.

According to customs data processed by FEPEX, Spain imported a total of 1.7 million tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables during the first four months of 2026, for a bill of 2.095 billion euros.

Countries outside the European Union now account for 72% of this bill, compared to only 28% for European suppliers. Their sales increased by 9% in value and 7% in volume.
