Morocco’s Foreign Minister Signals Openness to Israel Visit, Reaffirms Diplomatic Ties

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, in an intervention on the Israeli channel Kan, estimated that the relaunch of relations between Morocco and Israel is a sovereign decision. Nasser Bourita also did not rule out a future visit to Israel.
The head of Moroccan diplomacy recalled that this decision is inspired by the relations between Morocco and Jews in general, as evidenced by the relations between King Mohammed VI and Israelis of Moroccan origin and between the Kingdom and Israel in particular. "The four points mentioned in the statement of the royal communiqué will be fully implemented, including the opening of a direct flight line between the two countries, the reopening of liaison offices and the return of diplomatic relations. Morocco does what it says," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Nasser Bourita does not rule out a future visit to Israel either. "Anything is possible and if that’s the case I’ll come visit you in the studio," the Moroccan foreign minister promised the Kan journalists.
The head of Moroccan diplomacy also reassured about any possible reactions and statements from citizens, which, according to him, have always been "very positive". According to him, all the vital forces have applauded the results of the talks between the King and US President Donald Trump.
"When King Mohammed VI said that we are with the two-state solution, it means that from the beginning, we have recognized the State of Israel, and we have recognized it since the 1990s because it is logical. Never to the detriment of the Palestinian cause, nor to the detriment of peace. This situation will rather be useful for peace and stability in the Middle East. We hope that this will be a step towards the two-state solution and the final stability in the region," stressed the minister.
