Morocco’s Foreign Minister to Address AIPAC Conference Amid US-Sahara Policy Uncertainty

Morocco wants to develop its relations with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the active Israeli lobby in the United States where the Biden administration has not yet decided whether or not to reconsider the American recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara. In this sense, Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will participate in a conference organized by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on May 6.
This will be Morocco’s first participation in the activities of the Israeli lobby, AIPAC. Nasser Bourita will be the main guest of the association as part of the "Mid Atlantic Spring Program". The Minister of Foreign Affairs will speak by videoconference. Since the advent of the Biden administration, Morocco has been active in maintaining the decree recognizing the sovereignty of the kingdom over the Sahara. The current President of the United States has not, for the time being, clarified his position on the subject. An attitude that worries the Moroccan authorities, as well as the Israeli lobby.
According to Jewish Insider, the existence of full diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel depends on the White House’s position on Trump’s decision on the Sahara. If Biden were to call this decision into question, the kingdom might once again end its diplomatic relations with the Hebrew state or refrain from strengthening these ties, analyzes the American newspaper, stressing that the issue continues to divide the US Senate.
