Morocco Forecasts 89,000 New Jobs by End of 2019, Mainly in Major Cities

The results of the Anapec’s prospective monitoring survey on the short-term evolution of employment in Morocco reveal that the national forecast recruitment need amounts to 89,391 at the end of 2019, with 63% concentrated on the Casablanca-Rabat-Tangier axis.
Recruitment, profiles of recruits, salaries, purchasing power, CNSS, compliance with labor legislation... All these indicators have been scrutinized by the supervisory authority, in its latest report on "the labor market in 2018", reports Aujourd’hui le Maroc.
This document prepared by the National Labor Market Observatory Directorate provides a retrospective statistical framework of the various dimensions of the labor market. Moreover, it presents the situation while deciphering the trends in the evolution of labor supply and demand, indicates the same source.
The working-age population has reached 25,950,000 people. Among them, 11,979,000 are active and 13,970,000 are inactive. For its part, the unemployment rate reached 9.8% (or 1,168,000 people) and presents significant disparities according to the place of residence, age and diploma.
It remains higher among urban actives (14.2%), young people aged 15 to 24 (26.0%) and graduates (17.1%). At the same time, 300,000 graduates from universities (public and private), management training institutions and vocational training enter the labor market annually.
In 2017, there were 307,800, including 186,333 vocational training graduates against 112,000 jobs in 2018. The volume of employment is made up of 48.8% salaried workers, 30.3% self-employed, 16% family helpers and 2.4% employers. The survey results reveal that the national forecast recruitment need amounts to 89,391 at the end of 2019, with 63% concentrated on the Casablanca-Rabat-Tangier axis.
