Morocco Football Chief Urges Restraint in Recruiting Dual-Nationality Players

The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, has asked the national coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, not to give in to the demands deemed excessive of certain dual national players that the FRMF is trying to recruit.
Fouzi Lekjaa has asked Vahid Halilhodzic and the talent hunters not to continue negotiations with dual national players who are making a bidding war, specifying that the latter, regardless of their level, should first and foremost be honored to wear the national colors. The players concerned are demanding, among other things, to be integrated directly into the national team without going through the different age categories, reports the daily Al Akhbar.

Thus, only the players who have agreed to wear the national team colors will be called up by the national coach, who should unveil on Thursday the list of the Atlas Lions selected for the two return matches against Sudan and Guinea, counting for the fifth round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The called-up players will reside at the Maâmoura sports complex from November 8 to 17 to prepare the two matches serenely.
Barring any changes, Vahid Halilhodzic should renew the same squad that has proven itself in the last three matches, beating Guinea Bissau twice (5-0 and 3-0) and Guinea Conakry (4-1).
