Morocco Food Poisoning Outbreak: 27 Hospitalized After Fast Food Meal

A fast food restaurant in Martil was the source of a large-scale food poisoning this week. More than 27 people were affected, showing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain just a few hours after their meal.
The victims were taken care of in two health facilities: the public hospital in Martil welcomed 21 of them, while the others were treated in a private clinic in Tétouan. While most were able to return home after treatment, some are still hospitalized in Tétouan.
Faced with the seriousness of the situation, the local authorities reacted quickly by ordering the temporary closure of the incriminated restaurant. An investigation has been opened to shed light on the circumstances of this poisoning. Food and ingredient samples have been sent to the laboratory for analysis.
