Morocco’s Food Exports Surge to Record $8 Billion Despite Drought

Exports of agricultural and maritime food products experienced a boom in 2022, exceeding 80 billion dirhams (MMDH). A record.
Despite a difficult international and climatic situation marked by unprecedented levels of drought, agricultural and maritime food products have exploded, increasing by about 20% compared to 2021. Berry exports have increased by 20%, with a volume of 131,900 tons, those of fresh fruits and vegetables have increased by 10%, with a volume of 2.3 million tons, we are told. As for citrus exports, they "have been at their peak, particularly on the American market".
Olive oil exports have recorded an 85% increase in volume and 49% in value. As for processed agricultural products, exports have increased by 5% in volume and 19% in value during the year 2022 compared to 2021. Regarding fisheries, exports have increased by 13% in volume and 16% in value, thus reaching 28 MMDH.
