Morocco Foils Terror Plot: 5 Daesh-Linked Suspects Arrested in Anti-Terrorism Sweep

Five people close to the terrorist group Daesh were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ). They intended to carry out attacks in Morocco.
According to information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), these are five individuals aged 20 to 45 suspected of being involved in the preparation of attacks in Morocco, aiming to "seriously undermine public order."
The arrests took place in "Habata Benmansour" in the province of Kenitra, Sidi Yahya Zaer, "Dchira" in Inzegane Ait Melloul, Bouabou, in the province of Chichaoua and Casablanca, specifies the same source, according to which each of the suspects had declared his allegiance to the terrorist group Daesh.
The arrested individuals had planned to carry out sabotage operations against vital interests in Morocco using explosive objects, either by targeting security elements and institutions as part of individual terrorist operations, it is further reported.
In addition to a shotgun seized from the home of one of them, the police also seized "a quantity of equipment and digital media that will be subject to the necessary technical expertise."
Placed in custody, the accused will be brought before the judge at the end of the investigation currently being conducted by the BCIJ agents.
