Morocco-EU Fisheries Agreement Shows Resilience Amid Pandemic Challenges

A meeting was organized on December 8 and 9 between Morocco and the European Union to take stock of the first year of the fisheries partnership protocol and to better relaunch the next season.
The second session of the Joint Committee provided for in the sustainable fisheries partnership agreement took place by videoconference and allowed the two parties to take stock of the year 2020, according to a joint press release. It took place in a rather difficult context marked by the health crisis due to the coronavirus.
Thanks to the provisions of the agreement, its protocol and the close cooperation between the two parties, the authorized European vessels continued to fish safely. During the work, the participants unanimously appreciated the progress of the activity. They also validated the implementation of the projects financed by the sectoral support for the first year of the agreement.
In addition, the parties also examined and validated the report on the geographical and social distribution of the access and royalty tranches for the same year.
