Morocco Fires Olympic Soccer Coach After Tokyo 2020 Qualification Failure

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has just terminated the functions of Mark Wotte, coach of the Olympic football team.
"This dismissal was decided by the FRMF following the failure to qualify for the Olympic tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Games, which was one of the main objectives of the contract linking Wotte to the FRMF," it is stated on the FRMF website.
The FRMF also explains that "important strategic changes will be made within the National Technical Directorate in the coming weeks, particularly after the evaluation of the work carried out during his four-year term."
The Olympic team lost last week 2-0 against the team of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the first leg and won 1-0 in the second leg at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, which was not enough to qualify.
It should be noted that the Dutch coach had been recruited in 2015 by the FRMF and since then significant resources had been made available to him to succeed in his mission with the under-23 team.
