Morocco Falls to Algeria in African Handball Championship, Both Advance to Quarterfinals

The Moroccan handball team lost Sunday its match against Algeria counting for the 3rd and last day of group C of the 1st round of the African Nations Handball Championship (CAN-2024) taking place in Egypt until January 27.
Morocco was beaten by Algeria with a score of 30-23. But the two teams have already qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Nations Handball Championship (CAN-2024). The Atlas Lions validated their ticket by beating Libya (30-25) and Gabon (33-25). They finish 2nd in group C behind the Fennecs. Morocco will face Cape Verde in the next round of this qualifying tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2025 World Cup.
At the end of the championship, the top five teams will participate in the next World Handball Championship to be held from January 14 to February 2, 2025 in Norway, Denmark and Croatia. The winner of the competition will represent Africa at the next Olympic Games to be held from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, August 11, 2024 in Paris, France.
