Morocco Faces Sudan in Crucial World Cup Qualifier Match
Sudan hosts Morocco this Friday at the Moulay Abdellah complex in Rabat. Vahid Halilhodzic’s protégés hope to have the upper hand in this match counting for the 5th round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The match between Sudan and Morocco can be followed live, starting at 8 p.m., on the sports channel of the SNRT group, Arryadia, but also on Al Aoula, Tamazight and the Sudanese channel Blue Nile Channel.
This match will be the eighth between the two teams. The first confrontation between the two countries took place in 1969, during the qualifiers for the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. Morocco came out victorious (3-0), obtaining at the time its qualification for the competition itself, recalls the site Le360.
The two countries will meet again in 1972, during the group stage of the 8th African Cup of Nations (1-1), then in 1976 on the occasion of the 10th edition of the CAN (2-2). In 2002, the Nile crocodiles take their revenge and manage to beat the Atlas Lions (1-0), on the occasion of the 8th Arab Cup. Before this Friday, the two teams faced each other in Rabat, in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Score (2-0) in favor of Morocco.
The Atlas Lions are already qualified for the play-offs, but the coach expects a victory from them, to definitively establish his hegemony over the group. For the moment, Morocco has 12 points, far ahead of Guinea Bissau with 4 points, Guinea Conakry, 3 points, and Sudan bringing up the rear with 2 points.
