Morocco Faces Alcohol Dilemma for 2030 World Cup Co-Hosting

Saudi Arabia has decided: no alcohol in the stadiums during the 2034 World Cup. This decision revives questions about the position Morocco, co-organizer of the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, will take.
In Morocco, the sale and consumption of alcohol are regulated by law. While alcohol is not prohibited, its accessibility remains limited. In this context, how will the kingdom manage this sensitive issue during the World Cup?
The challenge is significant. Morocco will have to reconcile respect for its traditions with the expectations of an international audience accustomed to greater freedom in terms of alcohol consumption. The joint organization with Spain and Portugal, where the alcohol culture is quite different, further complicates the situation.
The Moroccan authorities will have to show diplomacy to find a solution that satisfies the greatest number. And the question has not yet been settled. Several options are possible: maintaining the current legislation, relaxing the rules for the duration of the competition, or setting up specific areas where alcohol would be allowed.
The issue of alcohol during the 2030 World Cup goes beyond the simple sporting framework. It shows the difficulties in reconciling different cultures and ways of life during a global event. Qatar has shown during the last edition that a successful World Cup is not necessarily synonymous with alcohol consumption.
