Morocco Eyes World Cup Berth: Atlas Lions Gear Up for Crucial Niger Clash

Ranked in Group E, Morocco will face Niger on Friday, September 5th as part of the 7th round of the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Meanwhile, training sessions are ongoing.
Morocco is actively preparing for the match against Niger. On Tuesday, two training sessions were held at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora under the supervision of the Moroccan national team coach Walid Regragui and his assistant staff, with the participation of all the players. The morning session was devoted to the physical aspect and recovery exercises, while the afternoon session focused on tactical and technical aspects. Two other training sessions were held on Wednesday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.
Regragui continues to search for the tactical scheme he will adopt for the match against Niger, the list of called-up players being made up of new players wearing the national jersey for the first time, and other players, such as El Karouani, who are making their return to the selection. A training session will be open to the media for the first 15 minutes on Thursday, September 4th, on the pitch of the Moulay Abdallah Complex in Rabat.
The match between Morocco and Niger will take place on Friday, September 5, 2025, starting at 8 pm, on the pitch of the Moulay Abdallah Sports Complex in Rabat. This match can be followed live on Arryadia TNT. In case of victory, the Atlas Lions will only need one point to validate their ticket for the 2026 World Cup. Currently, the Moroccans are at the top of the standings with 15 points in five matches in a mini-league reduced from six to five teams due to the unexplained withdrawal of Eritrea before the first day.
After this match, Regragui’s protégés will cross crampons with Zambia on September 8 in Lusaka as part of the 8th round of the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers.
