Morocco Eyes Bid for 2025 or 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Hosting Rights

After refusing to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations when it was the overwhelming favorite, the kingdom is expected to submit its candidacy for the 2025 or 2027 edition.
Sources within the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) cited by the newspaper Al Akhbar claim that Morocco intends to submit its bid for the 2025 or 2027 edition, pending the Confederation of African Football (CAF)’s decision on Guinea’s candidacy for 2025.
The daily also reports that the decision not to run for the 2019 edition was political and diplomatic, with the kingdom not wishing to upset its African friends and partners, particularly Cameroon.
For these two editions (2025 and 2027), Morocco’s candidacy will compete with those of Senegal, Gambia and Mauritania.
