Morocco Extradites Russian ISIS Fighter to Moscow, FSB Reports

Morocco has just extradited to Russia a Russian national (originally from Dagestan) who had fought within the terrorist organization Daesh in Syria. His name is Salamov Ramazan Magomednuriyevich.

According to a statement from the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service) relayed by the TASS news agency: "The law enforcement agencies of the Kingdom of Morocco have arrested a Russian citizen, Salamov Ramazan Magomednuriyevich, born in 1970, wanted for his participation in the activities of international terrorist organizations".

The same source explains that Salamov is guilty of both the spread of extremist ideas and participation in combat in the ranks of Daesh: "Salamov spread the extremist religious ideology among the inhabitants of the Republic of Dagestan and carried out his criminal aspirations in 2016, where he went to Syria and joined the ranks of the Islamic State and participated in the fight against government troops".

He would also have tried to settle in Morocco after several defeats of Daesh, at the beginning of 2018. Indeed, the FSB specifies that this terrorist "tried to settle in the city of Casablanca, but based on the evidence provided of his criminal activities, the competent Moroccan authorities have granted an extradition request to Russia".

This extradition took place on April 26, carried out by "the convoy group of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and Interpol".
