Morocco Extends National Curfew and COVID-19 Restrictions for Two More Weeks

Morocco has decided to extend the restrictive measures across the national territory for two more weeks. The evolution of the epidemiological situation related to the coronavirus worldwide requires it.
The government has decided to extend for an additional two weeks from this Tuesday at 9 PM, the national curfew and other restrictions announced on January 13, a statement said.
The curfew is in place across the national territory from 9 PM to 6 AM, except for exceptional circumstances. Other measures: the closure of restaurants, cafes, shops and large stores every day at 8 PM and the ban on parties and gatherings. All other previously enacted restrictions remain in effect.
According to the government, this new extension is explained by the evolution of the epidemiological situation related to the coronavirus worldwide marked by the appearance of new variants of the virus in several neighboring countries. It is part of the ongoing efforts to curb the spread of the virus, in accordance with the recommendations of the Scientific and Technical Commission.
On Monday, Morocco recorded a first case of the new coronavirus variant.
