Morocco Extends Anti-Dumping Measures on Chinese Plywood Imports

The anti-dumping measures applied to imports of plywood from China will be maintained until next year. This decision aims to protect Moroccan production.
This application will be maintained until July 26, 2022, indicates Moroccan customs, specifying that the joint order of the Minister of Industry and Trade and his counterpart in charge of Economy and Finance excludes from the application of the aforementioned anti-dumping duty, plywood composed of 3 plies each consisting of a reconstituted wood veneer sheet of poplar wood falling under tariff heading 4412 33 99 10. However, the benefit of this exemption is subject to the presentation by importers of an invoice provided by the Department of Industry and comes into effect on June 18, 2021.
To recall, the Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy launched on May 29, 2017, a review investigation of the anti-dumping measure applied to imports of plywood originating in China, in order to assess the likelihood of recurrence or continuation of dumping and the impacts caused to the national plywood production industry by these imports.
Furthermore, the results of the investigation show that Moroccan plywood production is in a bad shape marked by the drop in sales volumes and production for the local market.
