Morocco’s Exports Surge: ’Made in Morocco’ Products Generate 203 Billion Dirhams Over 20 Years

Despite some difficulties, Morocco is managing to strengthen its exports. With the sectoral strategies that have favored the positioning of "Made in Morocco" on the international market, the kingdom has managed to collect 203 billion dirhams in 20 years.
Moroccan exports have been recording good performance for nearly two decades, informs Aujourd’hui Le Maroc. "The sectoral strategies have come to reinforce the positioning of Moroccan products on the international market. This is evidenced by the constant evolution of Morocco’s sales on the export market. If we take the 2000 - 2019 milestone, Morocco’s shipments to the international market have increased by 203.26 billion dirhams, going from 78.79 billion dirhams to 282.05 billion dirhams. Europe captures the bulk of these sales," it is specified.
Thus, the products sent to Europe were set at 203.85 billion dirhams in 2019, compared to 61.5 billion in 2000, an increase of 142.35 billion dirhams generated in 20 years. According to the data, 188.15 billion dirhams were directed to the European Union in 2019, compared to 59.74 billion dirhams in 2000. Furthermore, Morocco’s exports to the euro zone recorded a peak of 121.44 billion dirhams over the past 20 years, reaching 172.74 billion dirhams, compared to 51.3 billion dirhams in 2000, according to the Foreign Exchange Office.
In 2019, with regard to Asia, Morocco achieved an export figure of 27.71 billion dirhams against 9.03 billion dirhams, 20 years earlier. These exports have recovered by 18.68 billion dirhams between 2000-2019. For Moroccan exports to America, the Kingdom has benefited in this market from 21.9 billion dirhams, i.e. exports of 26.36 billion dirhams in 2019, against 4.46 billion in 2000.
"Sales to Saudi Arabia have slightly improved over this period, going from 636.7 million dirhams in 2000 to 994.68 million dirhams in 2019. On the other hand, Moroccan exports to Japan have contracted, shifting from 3 billion dirhams in 2000 to 2.47 billion dirhams in 2019," specifies the daily.
