Morocco Expels Two Spanish Tourists for Alleged Political Activity

The Moroccan police expelled two Spanish nationals at the beginning of the week who were staying at the home of a family in Laâyoune, in southern Morocco.
In a statement to EFE, one of the Spaniards, who was still in Agadir, said that several agents had shown up at the home of this family before asking them to gather their belongings and leave the territory.
"They told us that this was Morocco and that we came here for tourism and not for politics. Moreover, for our own safety, we should be in a hotel and not with a private individual," added Irati Tobar.
The latter assures that they were not involved in any political activity and had chosen to stay with the resident on the advice of friends from the Basque Country.
After leaving Laâyoune, the two tourists made a stopover in Agadir, then Casablanca before returning to Bilbado, in northern Spain.
