Morocco Expands Tourism Reach: Targets Australia, Japan, South Korea, and India

The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) is working to better position Morocco on the global tourism landscape. The next target? Strategic markets like Australia, Japan, South Korea and India.
On the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and the airline Emirates signed a strategic partnership on May 1 in Dubai. This partnership aims to stimulate visitor flows to Morocco, particularly from Australia, Japan, South Korea and India, reports Aujourd’hui Le Maroc. It is also a question of strengthening the attractiveness of Morocco in several target markets and penetrating new markets through the airline’s network. The commercial firepower of the airline, a leader in these markets, will serve as a lever for the ONMT in promoting the Moroccan destination in the Middle East as well as in Asia.
"The memorandum of understanding signed paves the way for greater cooperation to support the growth of tourism in Morocco. To meet this growing demand, we have recently restored our regular flights on the Airbus A380, across our entire network to Morocco. Emirates is also committed to helping Morocco achieve its goal of 17.5 million tourists by 2026," says Badr Abbas, Emirates’ Vice President of Commercial Operations for Africa. "This agreement is part of our 2023-2026 action plan ’Light in action’ whose air development is one of the major pillars. This partnership will help realize our objectives of promoting the Moroccan destination and increasing tourist flows from the Middle East, the Asian continent, and also penetrate new target markets such as Australia, Japan, South Korea or India by benefiting from Emirates’ network and expertise," said Adel El Fakir, CEO of ONMT.
