Morocco Expands Defense Industry with New Industrial Zones

Morocco aims to be part of the small circle of leading countries in the field of the armaments industry. The Council of Ministers has adopted a decree establishing two industrial acceleration zones dedicated to the defense industry.
"This new text aims to set up zones to accommodate the defense industries (equipment, defense and security equipment, weapons and ammunition)," reports Assabah, citing the communiqué of the Royal Cabinet published after the Council of Ministers, emphasizing the importance of establishing a legal framework to govern this new activity. In the same vein, the Council adopted another decree establishing the position of military attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom in Brasilia, Brazil, the publication informs.
In addition to these two decrees, the Council approved the special status of university professors in medicine, pharmacy and dentistry. This text sets a function allowance for department heads, service heads and heads of centers working in military hospital establishments. Another text relating to the composition of the National Coordination Committee in the fields of hydrography, oceanography and marine cartography was also approved during this Council.
During this meeting, the Minister of Economy and Finance presented a communication on the strategic orientations of the State’s shareholding policy. The reform of public institutions aims to improve their governance and provide citizens with quality public service, it is specified. This justifies the appointment of new general managers at the head of ONEE, ONDA, ADM, MASEN and ANP.
