Morocco Expands Air Network with 40 New Routes to Boost Tourism

The expansion of the air network remains a priority for the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), which seeks to "balance tourist flows by encouraging airlines to offer direct routes [...]"
"Stimulate demand and increase the attractiveness of all Moroccan regions." This is the objective pursued by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), which has implemented a strategy called "Light In Action". In this sense, "the ONMT has negotiated with partner airlines for a better air coverage of the Cherifian kingdom, with no less than 40 new direct connections or renewals of point-to-point lines for the summer season 2025," reports Air Journal.
In Agadir, three new direct routes have already been launched, including two by Transavia from Bordeaux and Amsterdam, as well as a route from Bournemouth with Jet2. It is planned to renew connections from Oslo with Norwegian, and from Berlin, Bristol and Edinburgh with EasyJet. In total, an offer of nearly 73,000 seats. Enough to help revive the seaside resort of Agadir. In Essaouira, six new routes have been launched from Nantes with Transavia, Seville and Barcelona with Vueling, Lyon with EasyJet, Rabat with Air Arabia and Paris-Beauvais with Ryanair. More than 38,000 new additional seats are offered.
In Marrakech, several new routes are launched: from Bordeaux with Transavia and Volotea, from Malaga, Edinburgh, London Stansted with EasyJet, as well as Leeds and Newcastle with Jet 2. Not to mention the renewed lines from Helsinki with Norwegian, Amsterdam, Birmingham and Liverpool with EasyJet, and Rome, Budapest and Bucharest with Wizzair. A pillar of Moroccan tourism, Marrakech totals more than 160,000 new seats.
The ONMT extends its diversification policy to destinations in Fez with a new line from Lille with Ryanair; to Rabat with new routes from Dublin and Manchester with Ryanair, Malaga with EasyJet. The lines from Milan and Bordeaux with EasyJet have been renewed. Finally, Air Arabia resumes lines from Bordeaux and Girona, departing from Tangier. Added to this is a new connection from Copenhagen with Norwegian.
Ryanair also relaunches lines from Madrid and Lanzarote to Dakhla. Also, it has opened a domestic flight between Tangier and Beni-Mellal. "This strategy aims to balance tourist flows by encouraging airlines to offer direct services where potential is underexploited [...] while addressing territorial isolation issues," emphasizes the ONMT. These connections will "contribute to initiating a more inclusive and better distributed tourism development in Morocco."
