Morocco’s Event Hall Industry Battles Illegal Competition Amid Post-Pandemic Recovery

After the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on their activities, owners and managers of event halls say they are now facing an unbearable unfair competition from certain individuals offering informal halls and privatized villas for the organization of celebrations.
The summer season, during which large sales figures are achieved, has gotten off to a bad start for owners and managers of event halls. During a press conference held in Casablanca, the Moroccan Union of Event Hall Owners and Managers denounced the illegal practices that are undermining their activities, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. These professionals are facing unfair and illegal competition from certain individuals offering informal halls and privatized villas for the organization of celebrations, in disregard of the legal framework that regulates the sector.
The members of the trade union also deplored the absence of several required conditions respected by professionals, such as event insurance, intended to guarantee the safety of both the hall owner and the organizers and their guests. So they warn about the negative impact of this unbearable unfair competition on the business model of event hall owners and managers. Without failing to mention the danger to which users of these improvised halls, which do not meet the most basic standards of the sector, are exposed.
