Morocco Equips Gendarmes with Body Cameras to Enhance Law Enforcement Accountability

The Royal Gendarmerie has recently received new body-worn cameras. These devices are intended to protect the gendarmes during their interventions, but also to serve as evidence in case of dispute over the offense.
Hundreds of these body-worn cameras have been deployed among the gendarmes. For optimal operation, docking stations allowing rapid charging and simultaneous downloading of videos have been installed.
In addition, Axis has provided system controllers to secure the transmission of videos to the gendarmerie’s secure local server. This solution also includes a video management system, to store, view and export video clips to multimedia players, as well as to update the cameras, indicates Globalsecuritymag.
The objective is to establish an environment of trust and to mitigate any tensions during the interventions of the law enforcement agencies. The devices have a dual role: to protect the gendarmes during critical missions and to serve as evidence to validate their actions, thus facilitating the work in connection with the judicial services.
"The recording quality is excellent, the camera and the recording management software are intuitive to use, which facilitates our work. The solution was chosen for its robustness and autonomy, allowing the gendarmes to carry out their missions comfortably without worrying about the condition of the equipment," said the Royal Gendarmerie.
