Morocco Ensures Ample Gas Supply for Ramadan Despite Increased Demand

The Ministry of Energy, Mines and the Environment affirms that the supply of petroleum products on the domestic market remains stable and sufficient to meet all the needs of households and productive sectors during the month of Ramadan, which is characterized by an increase in the consumption of butane gas.

Despite the exceptional demand, particularly since the declaration of the state of health emergency and the advent of the month of Ramadan, the supply to the market remains regular thanks to the new acquisitions confirmed by the sector’s players, indicates the ministry in a press release, specifying that these operations make it possible to preserve the current stocks and to improve them for the next three months.

The scheduled and confirmed imports are sufficient to cover the national needs in butane gas with the preservation of a permanent reserve stock, oscillating between 34 days from May 1 and 31 days until June 1, continues the ministry, adding that these levels exceed the consumption needs of this material at the national level which reaches about 7,000 tons/day.

As for the other petroleum products, the demand for fuels has seen a continuous decline since the declaration of the state of health emergency, which has led to a reduction in traffic, it is explained. This decline was accompanied by a decrease in consumer selling prices, mainly due to the unprecedented drop in oil prices on the world market.
