Morocco Enhances Airport Security with Advanced Passenger Data Analysis

Morocco has decided to strengthen its passenger control system at airports. This procedure will now be supplemented by the analysis of electronic data sent before the arrival of passengers at their destination.
The new measure is contained in Decree No. 2.21.624 implementing Article 212 of the Civil Aviation Code, adopted and published in the Official Bulletin. This text is part of the measures taken in the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime, and aims to comply with the guidelines and standards of the relevant international systems, reports Aujourd’hui Le Maroc.
In this context, a national center for processing information relating to passengers and air flights will be set up under the authority of the Director General of National Security. Its mission will be to collect the information sent by air carriers and general aviation aircraft operators. It ensures their processing, analysis, exchange and conservation, the newspaper specifies.
From now on, air carriers are required to send the API/PNR data relating to domestic and international commercial flights to the public authorities and to submit all flights to these procedures. According to Article 3 of the decree, the center will be managed by a chief appointed by the Director General of National Security.
